Hey sonofalesbian thanks for registering with TBR.

As for the question, The half-wave dipole is very simple to construct. Use 75 or 50 ohm cable to feed the centre of the dipole. This could be 50 ohm types such as RG58, RG8X, RG8, RG213, or 75 ohm type such as RG11, RG59, RG6 or even 75 ohm twin lead.

The only advice i can offer you on construction is to go to Youtube and type into the search 'FM Dipole Antenna Construction' or something similar, there are many technical videos of how to build ariels and what not on there.

Google it aswel. There are MANY sites that hold all the diagrams ect, and frequency length calculators if you so need them.

Failing all of that, just buy one. A half-wave dipole ariel kit are around the £30 mark, tuned, and are available alover the net. Strip the Balun out from the middle (where the poles connect) and thats pritty much the working of an ariel really. The balun is a matching device which takes an unbalanced input from your coax line and provides a balanced out for an antenna or balanced feedline.

Then, if you wish to build one for yourself 'for your uni project' , all of the parts are available to order online seperatley. Coax, Baluns, Poles ect ect.

Again, check Youtube, there is a world of knowledge on there

Peace and good luck .
